Update on our 2022 MitoScholars(+)
 
Our 2022 MitoScholars are excited and energized to be back in the classroom. We asked them how they were settling in and what they enjoyed most during their first 90 days. From researching native moth populations to gaining experience through an internship, they had a lot to share!

We are thrilled to highlight our 2022 MitoScholars, they made our inaugural scholarship year such a memorable one. Watch for details on our 2023 MitoScholars/+ program coming in the new year.

I love being back in Sudbury living with my friends.
It’s bittersweet as it should be my last year of my degree but I have truly enjoyed going to school at Laurentian. I have the opportunity to have an internship this year, which will be interesting.
I am excited to see where my degree will lead me when I graduate.

My first 60 days back to school have been great. My research is looking at the native moth populations here on the island of Newfoundland and seeing how/if a specific insecticide is affecting them. It's hard to pick my favorite part so far! It has to be either going into the field to collect moths with light traps or identifying them all in the lab.

I’ve settled into residence and campus life. One of the best parts of school has been exploring the beautiful campus, the view of the ocean from my room, and learning to live on my own. I’m still adjusting to university academics and learning, but overall I think it is going pretty well.

It’s not too late to register for the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders (CORD)’s annual, Rare Disease Conference. This two-day conference on November 21-22 in downtown Toronto (also available virtually) brings together experts and participants to engage in strategic planning sessions on proposals for key components within the three pillars of the Rare Disease Program.
